The Hours
The Hours (2002) is a drama film directed by Stephen Daldry, based on the 1999 eponymous novel by Michael Cunningham.
It deals with three women who are interconnected by the novel Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf :
- Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), a New Yorker preparing a party for a friend dying from AIDS in 2001;
- Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), a pregnant 1950s California housewife in an unhappy marriage;
- Virginia Woolf herself (Nicole Kidman) in 1923 in England, afflicted with depression and trying to write a novel.
It's an emotional, intelligent film with great actresses and a great story.
