What we did to prepare the exhibition:
- We read a short biography of Janis Joplin.
- We watched Ang Lee's movie "Taking Woodstock" and wrote reviews.
- We listened to songs and studied the lyrics.
- We watched extracts from the documentary "Woodstock".

Woodstock '69 Highlights: an extract from the documentary...
Jimi Hendrix singing "Purple Haze". Drugs played an important part in counterculture. Hendrix died on September 18th, 1970, from drug-related complications, as many other young people of that time.
...and one of the Woodstock "lost performances", not included in the documentary:
Joan Baez singing "We Shall Overcome". This song, whose original lyrics were written by a church minister and whose melody dates back to before the CivilWar, became extremely popular during the Civil Rights Movement. Indeed, racial equality was one of the causes defended by the people who took part in the counterculture movement.
